LAO PA FANG VILLAGE!

Several years ago, we fixed up a house in Lao Pa Fang village for a grandmother and her 2 grandchildren. Then the grandma passed away and now her daughter's family is living there. Pray for the mother, Mrs. Saithong, who has cancer of the bowels, and is bedridden in a bed outside the house under the lean-to roof we once built. She doesn't want to sleep in the house, because it was flooded last year and has a musty smell. We witnessed to her and she accepted Jesus as her Saviour. After that, just 3 weeks ago, we met her triplets who help take care of her, and we met her husband as well, who is a janitor at the school where the triplets are studying in grade 10. Thank God, they are good students and good daughters who take turns sleeping with their mom outside, and come home at noon to look after her needs, as she is totally weak and bedridden. The 3 girls were badly in need of eye glasses. One girl was short sighted by 3.75 power, with a 1.75 astigmatism. We took them to the optometrist and now they all have new eye glasses! (above). Praise the Lord! Pray that this family may all accept Jesus as their Saviour. The triplets nicknames are: Yok, Ploy, and Pheung.

New school year 2025 - 26 started in mid-May

This year there are 25 Karen tribal students from the mountains who have come to stay in the Mae Wang christian dorms, and who come to church on Sunday, where some of them learn to participate in  the worship team. The reason they must come to study high school in Mae Wang, is that their village schools only teach upto grade 6. We will continue to teach them the Bible and English at the church. We pray they would be strong Christians and be a light to the other students and the teachers in their school.

Working on the land

The Pacific Academy team spent 3 mornings helping us with different projects on the yard and garden for the Home of Joy, such as cutting grass and shrubs, taking down a bamboo shelter, clearing out a canal, building a brick wall, digging trenches for a foundation on a chicken shed, and so on.

Outreach with Pacific Academy

In March we were privileged to have a team of 14 here from Pacific Academy in Surrey BC. There were 11 students from grade 11 and 12 as well as 3 supervisors (2 of them were teachers.) We went into 2 schools in Hang Dong and one in Phrao, as well as a church. It was great to see them be able to share the gospel through song, drama and testimony. In Phrao Larry was able to give tracts to every student as well as some new testaments. Pray this may touch their hearts to seek to know Jesus.

Diane and I translated for Pacific Academy team in 3 schools, where we were thankful to be able to present the gospel, as well as build good relationships.

Larry was able to hand out a bag of booklets and tracts to every student in Phrao.

Diane, our chief interpreter, with English teacher Kung (left), who was very happy to have us there, and organized this camp for us.

Our interpreters - we were glad to have Rosarin, center, to help us with interpreting. She has been a friend of our family for many years. Pray for her as she had previously made a decision but has a Buddhist husband, who is not a believer.

Home of Joy

In mid-January 2015 we started building a home for teenage girls that we sponsor to go to high school in Hang Dong area. Jenny will live with these girls in her first year as an intern with our mission, EFCCM. We are also open to volunteers (younger single ladies) to come and join her. Please pray the Lord would lead the right ones to come and live here with Jenny. We now have four perspective girls, three of whom have been with us last year. The girls have now gone to their homes for the summer and will be back by the end of April. We pray that this house will be finished by then.

Volunteers welcome in Phrao.

Come spend a month or more in Phrao as a volunteer, teaching Engish in the school, and making friends with villagers to enjoy a true cultural experience that you will never forget. Above all show them the love of Christ, through your interaction with them. They will be glad to have you and help you learn the language as well as practice their English with you!

Edward and Larry to Phrao

Larry has arranged for Edward to go to Naboon school in Phrao for the month of July. We are now spending time at Faay's resort and today we will go to sleep at a Karen village where Edward will stay. He will not have phone or Internet, but he can be contacted on my cell no. When at Naboon school. I will also stay with him on weekends from Thursday or Friday to Sunday. At the Karen village will stay in a room with no electricity and water; that is also where Edward will stay. Pray for Edward as he makes friends with the Thai people. He is learning the language quickly.

Below is a photo of Hug Me resort where we helped Fhay with building her grape green house.
